It is rare that we meet a wholly kind person. We have pockets of kindness reserved for special people and situations, but to be wholly kind is difficult. It requires commitment and purposeful actions. So many of our unkind actions stem from the unconscious: a spoken word that wounds in a split second; an off-handed remark makes haste toward the intended target; the temptation of innuendo that cannot be resisted only to land at the feet of one who understands all to well.
